Hi
Looking for help on a MORTIMER  MONTGOMERY born in Irland abt 1849 he married Elizabeth Currie abt 1870 in Port Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland.
Also looking for info on William Montgomery b abt 1824 Belfast and married Alice Dugan she was b abt 1825 Belfast.

Any information would be gratefully recieved.

Hello kapajoy,

What denomination were the Montgomery family? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), Methodists or  Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

MORTIMER  MONTGOMERY (age21) married Elizabeth Currie (age 20) on 18th April 1870 at St Johns R C Church Port Glasgow.

Fathers details: William Montgomery Labourer (deceased)
                          James Currie Soldier (deceased)

Mothers details Alice Montgomery (maiden Surname Dugan)
                         Jane Watson formerly Currie (maiden Surname Donachie) ??

Mortimer's address given as 9 Rope Work Lane Port Glasgow
Elizabeth's address given as 13 Fose Street Port Glasgow.
