I live in Doncaster and I am a member of the Doncaster Family History Soc'. I will have a look in this week and see if there any Parish Registers for Barnby Dun that may contain that Baptism. Regards TrevorPaul

Hi - not sure if I can help at all, but I live just a few minutes away from Barnby Dun, so if you need any info about locations etc then please let me know.

Hi Wings
1815 or 1915? Station Road is still there, with a row of terraced 'villas' - I doubt they were there in 1815 but could have been in 1915. Next time I'm passing I'll look to see if there's a date on the buildings. As far as I know there has never been a work-house in Barnby Dun - it's a very small, rural village by the canal side, with a nice local church.
Regards Julie

Hi again Wings
It wasn't until you asked about a single mothers home that I realised that number 1 Station Road is a large, detached house that it probably big enough to have been a hospital or a residential home at some point. I will ask my mother, who has lived nearby for most of her life, if she can remember anything about the house - I will get back to you soon.
Regards, Julie

Hi Wings, I've checked the parish register for St Peters and St Pauls church in Barnby Dun from 1813 to 1819 and there is no record of a baptism for Joyce ROPER( or any other Ropers.). If you need anything else let me know. TrevorPaul
