Hi Pincard
Could it be Deal or definitely Walmer? Do you have an address or reference that might help establish the location

Hi Pincard
A 1903 directory lists various inns of that name - three in that area as follows:
19 Strand, Lower Walmer - George DAWKINS Strand Street, Sandwich - James William SKINNER 8 West Street, Deal - Walter WINGATE
Does that help
There are some other links for directories on the Kent Resources pages where you may be able to find other nearby years http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,87441.0.html

Hi Pincard
The Alma PH does not exist (at least under that name) today, but I should be able to locate the building in The Strand.
Unfortunately the census for Deal does not exist, but I can probably find the occupier in the Street Directory.
I will be in Deal on Tuesday morning and will have a look if I have time. If I can locate the building I will take a photo of it for you.
Regards, Bill

Hi Pincard
The buildings have been re-numbered so that no. 19 is now no. 24.
The Alma was the middle one of these three houses - I will put a larger copy of the picture on my website at a later date.
I didn't have time to check the name of the occupier today but I will have a look next time to see if it was someone other than George Dawkins.
Regards, Bill
