A Quick & Easy One for Colouring
« on: Sunday 17 September 06 04:02 UTC (UK) »

Although she doesn't look too bad for a 57 year old widow Mrs. Ives would look a lot better with some colour methinks. All comers welcome!

cheers,

Hi Keith, Carolyn,

Sorry perhaps saying quick and easy was a little flippant. (You folks certainly make it appear that way. I can labour for hours and I end up trashing what I do anyway because I don't like the result.)

Thank you both for your renditions! She looks much better.

I'd like to ask quickly - do you colour on a mask and then adjust the opacity of the original to let the colours come through or another method althogether?

cheers,

No problem - hope you took my remark as flippantly as it was meant!!  Grin Grin

After using the patch tool and clone stamp to rectify any damage -  I use different layers for each person - and then the lasso to pick out each colour - using the colour balance icon.

All this is in Photoshop7

Cheers

Nicely done Carol!

You're probably right - black would be her colour.

Her husband was a Thames policeman and died when he was 39, leaving her with 6 children to raise. Somehow it all worked out ok.

many thanks,

I think the widows of the day had to wear black for so long didn't they? Don't know how long they had to wear it
