Hi, Welcome to Rootschat. Have you tried Scotlands People. It is free to join and for £6 you are given30 credits of which it costs you 6 credits in total to view the census, marriage index and birth index 6 credits per view. You say they are in Lanarkshire? There were a few Walker's in Edinburgh Midlothian as well. marcie

I'm not sure how accurate the ages are that are showing on the transcripts for the censuses, you probably have to check the origals for accuracy.
I think Janet Walker/Gilchrist may have remarried. Possible remarriage to a Peter Ewing on 23 AUG 1859 Central District, Glasgow. This may be them in 1861:
Peter Ewing 45, Baker Employing 3 Men & 2 Boys, b. Madderty, Perthshire Janet Ewing 35, b. Glasgow Mary Ewing 18 Isabella Eving 17 James Eving 16 Alexander Gilchrist 13, stepson David Gilchrist 11, stepson Peter Ewing 3 Months Agnes McIntyre 21
Address: 98 Cowcaddens St, Milton Glasgow
And then you have 1871 and more children:
Peter Ewing 53, baker Janet W Ewing 44 James Ewing 26 Peter Ewing 10 William Ewing 8 Jeanie Ewing 4 Robert Ewing 1 Elisabeth Clarksen 18
Address: 58 Rosse St, Glasgow

There is a small Ancestry tree for son William who looks to have left for Canada. Not clear where he married wife Janet Smith (can't see anything on IGI for marriage). One son shows to them as born in Canada, Robert b. 1870 in Chatham, Ontario. You should be able to hopefully find the family on the 1881 Canadian census, free to view on www.familysearch.org
William Walker looks to have died on 14 May 1891 in Kent, Ontario. The tree also includes a death date for father David Walker, 31 May 1839 in Glasgow (you might be able to double check this on Scotlands People Death OPR entries).
Monica
Added: William and family do show on the Canadian census. William is a clergyman - which probably explains the 'Student Glay' in 1851

thank you Monica, i did find William married to jennett smith and son Robert walker Dr married to elizabeth moore. in toledo ,ohio. wow i must of miss that of david death thanks.
i am confuse here for janet boys being in 1851 c and then in 1861 only one year 3yrs between the boys. jane walker is right a coal merchant and makes since that her grandchildren with her.
but i wander why they down in 1861 as only being 13,& 11 when they should of being 24,17. ,hmm 1851 one must be wrong as Janet didnt marry James gilchrist till 1846.
mary and eliza twins, well i know there brother James ended up having twins.
thanks again Monica thats help fill in lot. karen

Hi Karen
Yes, as mentioned, ages are all over the place probably down to how they have been transcribed. For accuracy, you would need to view the original image to see what it says about their ages.
