Waugh family of Jamestown/Bonhill
« on: Tuesday 19 September 06 16:57 UTC (UK) »

I'm looking for any information on my gg grandfather William WAUGH (b.c. 1838 IRL) who was the son of Joseph WAUGH and Catherine HANLON.
William married Mary, the daughter of Charles BROWN and Isabella or May GALLACHER in Bonhill, Sct in 1860.  On the marriage cert. there was no reference to ‘deceased’ parents.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to gather any other information on William and Mary’s roots in Ireland (I have the census enumerations that William and family appear in from 1861 through to 1901 – none of which indicate parental origins in Ireland).

The William WAUGH family settled in Jamestown and Bonhill by 1862.  They lived there (primarily, 23 Milton Terrace in Jamestown) and raised 6 children.  William died in 1911; Mary in 1916 (in Dumbarton).  I have the death notice from the Lennox Herald for Mary, but not for William.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
