Fogo Cemetery- Monumental Inscriptions - Index of surnames

This cemetery holds the remains of some young British and Commonwealth airman who died while serving at the nearby airfield Charterhall., memorials numbered 197 - 212.

I can do lookups. Do not expect too prompt service.

I like the way you have given all the Index, perhaps I should do the same for my Eccles & Leithom at least people can see if the names they are interesed are on the Index.

23    Erected by JOHN SCOTT in memory of ELISABETH NISBET his wife who died 2.4.1852 aged 45 years. Also of AGNES SCOTT his daughter who died 6.11.1852 aged 21 years and of JOHN SCOTT his son who died 9.11.1852 aged 9 years. Also the above JOHN SCOTT who died at Cowbrae Hill 20.8.1893 aged 85 years and is interred in Heriot churchyard.

171   In affectionate remembrance of JAMES CHISHOLM beloved husband of AGNES CHISHOLM and second son of JAMES and ISABELLA CHISHOLM who died at Printonan 1.5.1907 aged 26 years. Also MARGARET DICKISON CHISHOLM eldest daughter of JAMES and ISABELLA CHISHOLM and wife of WILLIAM MERCER who died at Sprouston 14.12.1905 aged 31 years. Also the above JAMES CHISHOLM who died at Printonan 31.3.1926 aged 83 years. Also WILHELMINA fifth daughter of JAMES and ISABELLA CHISHOLM who died 10.11.1932 aged 46 years. 209   Flying Officer J. O. SCOTT Pilot Royal Air Force 5.8.1944 age 27. 'Until we meet again.'

The last one is, as I wrote in my first posting, an RAF Pilot who was almost certainly stationed at Charterhall airfield.

Is there a definite Berwickshire Connection for the SCOTTs you are looking for? I also have the text for Stichill and Hume MI as a computer file. Someone else did the index for that publication, so I cannot put it up here as I have done for Fogo and Polwarth. I can look in it for SCOTT if you like.

Hi Paw, Thankyou once again for your time. My Scott's started of in Dumfriesshire & Roxburghshire George my 3x grt grandfather and his family were living in Belshiel Edrom in 1901 I have managed to track down most of his family but can't find out what happened to Michael who was 22 in 1901 he was a Ploughman His sister Lizzie who was 25 a Labourer out door on farm & Janet who was 18 again outdoor on farm. George died in Yetholm in 1913 his son John ( Michael's Brother) died in the war and a sister Annie died in Dalkeith in 1950. I have tried looking on Scotlands people and Ancesrty for Michael Lizzie & Janet but have had no luck. So it was a bit of a long shot really, but anything is worth a try.

Could you check the Nisbets and Kerrs for the parents of my GGGGGrandmother Margaret Kerr, John Kerr and Margaret Nisbet. I can't find anything on the IGI for them.
