A Bedfordshire turnip thief

Hi all, would anyone like to have a whack at sprucing up Solomon? He's been helping himself to other people's vegetables and been drunk to boot, and is spending some time in the Luton slammer. This is his mug shot, from 1866. It's not bad considering its age! But the colour's a bit uneven, kind of stripey. Yes, I know, prison stripes...there I beat you to it:-)

Anyone?

Not really - when I try to use the "Levels" to alter the colouring I get a "funny" reading - which I have never seen before!  Huh

Await others to explain how you get round this.

Might be because it is a "Gif" file and not the usual "jpeg"??
