Hi Aylsham
have you tried the Norfolk transcription site http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/surnames.php?surname=MELTON
or looking on the family search site http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

Hi
I have carried out some research on the Melton family of central Norfolk but I have not got back to 1720 yet. The earliest I have is Robert & Kath Melton (Betts) who married in 1742.
Any connection?
Teddy

Morning Teddy
I do not have a robert of that date but fobert is a family name the most used was with a Francis Melton Great Ryburgh 1764- 1844 m to Charlotte Monument they had had 3 children named Robert 1 b 1797 d 1797 2 b 1802 d 1802 3 b1803 d 1858
I do have many Melton's from Tittleshall but can not link them to the Whissonsett's yet
a Benjamin b 1776 m Ester Upton b 1803 moved to Terrington St Clements Norfolk, this is were my Wiiliam Melton was born in 1795, comes from, it has been hard to link them. I must point out that the line from Francis Melton 1727 is the line that my wife comes from her grandmother was a Melton this is why I started do do our family tree but have so far not made the connetion they all lived and worked in Walpole St Peters & St Andrew Norfolk in some cases in the sam road so they must have kown eash other and must be linked if you have any information that could help mat be we could exchange I do have many photographs on file as well
Francis
