I do roughly the same PollDoll, But I create a new folder on a regular basis. I title them RootsChat1, 2,3 etc. When I have a few files in and it starts to become fiddly I just create a new folder. As I usually complete any files in a folder before I create a new one I don't really have a problem. If I want to look back for a particular file I just open the folders and all the files are there in thumbnails so I can quickly spot what I want but I rarely need to anyway. Creating a folder costs nothing If they are family photo's and occasions then I use a proper naming system etc.
Each to their own and whatever makes you happy Tomkin

I suppose it also depends on how much space you have on your hard drive as to how much you keep and for how long .. When I first started doing photography I had to be very diligent with removing and storing photo files as I had a pc with very little space. Now I have 380 gb to play with it becomes easier.. though I do try and keep on top of my filing !!!

thank you all for your ideas, and tomkin & gadget - can i please have some of what you're on you two have made me laugh so much reading your posts, thank you for brightening my day!
Took me ages yesterday trying to post the photos, got there eventually, and soon realised that it made sense to type my message, highlight it, right click and copy, then paste it into the new message which followed when rc decided to keep binning it every time an error occurred!
Thanks for all your ideas though, something definitely to think about
Kaz

Hi Kaz. Thanks for that tip. I'll try and remember that when I type one of my usual long discourses.

I think it was a variation of what I said yesterday/last night, Tomkin, but you were superior and hadn't the time
Basically, once you've typed your message, highlight it and do a ctrl and C and then press send. If you get a fail you can just paste into the reply box and re-send.
I've had a local power cut since about 12.45. Luckily we put the gennie on but I watched the golf rather than log in to RC
Nice to see my local man from the Welsh/Shropshire borders captain such a great team
Back on everything now Kaz. I expect my dear friend will add his penn'orth though
Gadget - all lit up

Sorry Tomkin, my explanation wasn't very clear. Step by step....
Go to the top of your message, click infront of the first letter of the first word holding the left mouse button down drag down and across your message until the whole message is highlighted, this should be blue hightlight. Then let go of the left button on the mouse, your chosen text should stay highlighted. Then click with the right mouse button and you should be able to run down the list and click on copy. Once this has been copied it should stay in your clipboard ready for pasting if needed. Then if you lose your message through a rc error all you need to do in the new blank message box is to right click and go down to paste.
A bit long winded but hope this makes it clearer.......or of course.........gadgets way might be easier, never tried that way so I too have learnt something today, thank you gadget

Hi Kaz, Thats what I have been doing. But as soon as I click the RB the highlighted text disappears and the paste and copy functions are greyed out. I have done it many times and then many variations

Hi Kaz,
Done that and several variations. Should have done it PollDoll's way, but I so rarely use it that I'd forgotten all about it.
Tomkin
P.S. shouldn't have to do it anyway. ( I'M such an idle so & so )
