PENDREY of Southwold
« on: Tuesday 16 September 08 13:59 UTC (UK) »

Hi there,

I am looking for a Mary Ann Amy Pendrey daughter of Michael Pendrey and Elizabeth Watling.  Last seen in 1901 cenus living with parents.  Can't seem to find a marriage or death.  I know she was around in 1920 as she was left money in the will of her aunt Sophia Mackenzie late Southwold Arms Hotel.

Any help would be appreciated.

Carly

Hi Yokel,

Thanks for that.  Not sure of the geography as I am in the very far north of Scotland!!  but anything is possible .  It's the first time I have found anything remotely like Mary Ann Amy Pendrey.  Might have a look into this a bit further if possible.

Thank you,

Carly

Just to let you know that I ordered a copy of the marriage certificate between Mary A A Pendrey and William J powell and she was the one I was looking for.  Her sister died in Falmouth in 1847, Adeline Louisa Pendrey.  No idea why they were there .  Thanks again for the initial lead,

Southwold and Falmouth both coastal towns, perhaps there was a family occupation/employment connection?
Perhaps the sister fell for a seaman of some sort and followed him from Southwold to Falmouth ? Grin

Just a thought.

Gt-Grandfather Michael Wilson was born in Cork, lived in Fulham London - arrived Boston USA 1889 alone - what happened next?

Not sure as I haven't checked the 1911 census for Cornwall would you believe!!  I was so glad to have found her. Will do that straight away. William was at the white horse hotel in Leiston Suffolk with his first wife in 1911.  She died in 1924 and he married Mary Ann Amy in 1925! less than a year.

Replying to myself now!

No luck with the Mary Pendrys in Cornwall. She is a very elusive lady. Can't find her in 1901 or 1911.  She was born in Southwold in 1875. No sign of her sister Adeline either until her death in 1947
