Naturalisation after 1936 ??
« on: Sunday 24 September 06 17:29 UTC (UK) »

the problem is that the national archives do not give the names of people asking for naturalisation after 1936. Do you know where can I find a site for this?

Welcome to Rootschat.

Basically the records are at The National Archives. Only a fraction of the records held by The National Archives records have an online index (only about 10 million so far, but they do have over 50 miles of shelved records).

Copies of naturalization certificates 1870-1987 are in HO 334

Correspondence on individual naturalizations 1934-1948 are in HO 405, but these files are closed at least initially under the 100 year ruling. The Home Office however will review the closure period on request. Once the file is opened it remains open for public viewing at The National Archives.
After 1948 you need to contact the Home Office direct.

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveSearch.asp?webType=0 - naturalizations were also listed in the London Gazette, searching for surname only first is usually best because the search engine on this site is VERY fussy.
