Hiya all

Just to let you know I have now pushed my Beard family back a couple of generations

Ann Beard b 1832 Cookley father John Beard b 1799 Monmouth father John b c1774 died 1823 Redbrook Gloucs - unfortunately now stuck again

If you end up researching Gloucestershire dont forget the brilliant Forest of Dean site where they are transcribing all the parish records http://www.forest-of-dean.net/ - you have to register but it is free and they also cover some parts of Herefordshire

If you are researching Wolverhampton try the Wolverhampton Archive site http://www.wolverhamptonhistory.org.uk/resources/familyhistory

Or FreeREG http://freereg.rootsweb.com/cgi/Search.pl which has a lot of Wolverhampton records on it

I finally found the answer to my  family mystery.

GtGtGt Grandad Joseph Watkins was transported to Australia in 1852 for stealing sheep.

I seem to have come to a bit of a full stop with my Scrivens lot. I really need to go to Gloucestershire RO to get any further. I have 2 separate Scrivens lines (yes, I have a male Scrivens marrying a female Scrivens in my tree, they may have been cousins but no link as yet) but neither line seems to tie into anyone else's tree!!  Embarrassed

Not that I know of Scriv2. I've not checked the 1911 census for my Scrivens lot yet but up to 1901, at any rate, they stayed put in Gloucestershire. The only one who moved to Worcestershire was my gt grandmother Elizabeth Mary Scrivens, b. 1850 Eastington, Gls, daughter of Richard & Elizabeth Scrivens (nee Scrivens!). She and her husband, Richard Pinchin,  moved to Croome D'Abitot, WOR  sometime between 1881 and 1891 and later settled in Eckington.

I have Scriven's in my tree in Shropshire & Worcestershire.

Shropshire 1724-1774 and Worcestershire 1556-1679

Any likelyhood of a connection?

Mike

I think there is a good chance that we are connected as I notice there is a Beard in my tree (level with my grandparents generation) and some other people from Hanley (is this the same place as Hanley Castle?) in that bit of the tree in the 19th C.

I've sent you an email.

As they say at 20-20 cricket Yahoooooooo.

My lot are Beards, we are related (mind you you might not be pleased about that Grin)

Cant wait for your PDF, I'm sure we will have lots to share. Hanley Castle is often just called Hanley, but there is Hanley Swan as well.

Once more RC comes good, may thanks to all admin, techies and mods. And its freeeee!

Oh dear, no link.

I did have some info relating to the PDF tree from another three independent sources that might help.
