I have found Thomas Knight Lawson bapt 17/11/1814 son of Wm and mother Mary Knight. He married Mary Beck (date unknown) and sailed for America with Mary on The Price Rupert landing at Fort York on Hudson Bay. Why he has been so hard to find is he changed his name to Thomas Otchin and the only link we can find is The Hudson Bay company and we think he took on anothers mans name in order to take up a claim the real Otchin did not want.
Thomas lived and worked in Washington county for 61 years and when Mary died he came back to England and took his dead sisters daughter back with him to be Housekeeper (Mary Ann Simpson). Thomas also paid for his sister Rebecca Lawson and her husband Anthony Tongue from Metheringham in 1858. With them their addopted son (Son in Law on 1851 census) Thomas H Tongue who became the main benifactor of the estate of Thomas Otchin. With this help he became a Lawyer and much can be found about him on the internet.
