Hi there,
I have always believed that my GGparents left Shropshire for Liverpool in the early 1900s, I have now found out that they came to Liverpool via Leicester.
They lived at Livingstone Street off Hinchley Street and then Bolton Street, do these streets still exist, does anyone have any information on these streets 1900 -1920?
Any other information would be appreciated.

Hi John
There is a Livingstone Street still in Leicester but its inbetween Hinckley Road and Shaftesbury Road. There also is a Bolton road which is just of the A47 that runs through Leicester. Which are not far from each other.

Thanks for that, it must have been transcribed wrong so it is off Hinkley Road.
I will multimap it to see where they are.

Yes both Roads are still here in Leicester

Livingstone Road
Runs from Hinckley Road to Shaftsbury Road
In a southerly direction
Standing on the corner of Hinckley Road looking down the Road
On your right hand side there is a Old Methodist Chapel / Sunday School Rooms which is now a Ukrainian Church there is no other houses on this side but the space  is taken up by garages which belong to Houses on the Fosse Road Central
Who’s gardens stretch down to Livingstone Road.
On the Left hand side there is Terrance houses ( Two Up two down ) and have even numbers. This set up as always been that way.
Many taken up with student Flats now.

Bolton Road……..

Runs from Glenfield Road to Hinckley Road Numbering starts at Glenfield Road end .

Even on your Left Odd on your right
Both sides are again Terrance hoses
With entries connecting several houses       

Still using the half numbers = 2 ½. 4. ½.
Followed by two larger Houses. This must have been some sort of Shops.
In fact every street running off Hinckley Road had these types of larger Houses  which must have been shops in there time, again many being used by Students now.
