Missing marriage, Cheshire or Bristol
« on: Saturday 30 September 06 21:59 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I'm looking for the marriage of my friends parents.

Edward Vernon and Susan Hawker.

Susan was about 19 when they married so we're looking at approx 1968.  The marriage may have taken place in Bristol (where Susan was born) of Cheshire (where their daughter was born in 1970).  I believe Edward was a bit older than Susan, this was his 2nd marriage and he had 2 sons from the 1st marriage but don't know anything more about him.

I have searched FreeBMD and the BMD Indexes on Ancestry but can't seem to find them.

My friend would love to know more about her father.

TIA

Well, if you have searched the full index on ancestry, (and they are not there) then you would have to consider that maybe the entry didn't make it to the GRO.

Best thing to do in the first place is double-check that you did not miss them, and that pages have not been missed within the images.

Thank you Pauline,

I have checked and double checked and cannot see them, searching for Vernons and Hawkers and no luck.

I don't think FreeBMD does cover the years I need but it should all be on Ancestry shouldn't it?

Perhaps they didn't marry?

Should be and is are two completely different things.
It certainly won't be transcribed at that date, and Ancestry's transcribed index is a mirror of freebmd, nothing else.
