birth lookup please, Peter Butler

Can anyone help please with the birth of Peter Butler born c1841 Co. Kildare. Occupation Drayman.
Father Peter Butler.  Occupation Land Steward.
Mother unknown.
He arrived in NSW Aust in 1886 age 45 and died in NSW in 1916 age 75 so if ages given are right it all points to 1841 as the birth year.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated

There was a Peter Butler born in Athy parish in County Kildare in 1840, per online birth records.

Civil registration of births in Ireland didn't start until 1864. Therefore any earlier records are likely church baptismal records.
If Peter died in Australia his death certificate will probably give information like parents' names, age/birthdate, etc.

Have just checked that Peter Butler out plus one born 1836 but fathers were not Peter so seems like info on death cert was wrong but as they knew his occupation in Ireland was Drayman and his father was a Land Steward i would have thought they would have his birthplace right.

I wonder ... if the estate on which Peter Butler, Snr., was a Land Steward could it be established would the records of that estate be likely to contain any references to births, deaths and marriages of employees on the estate?

Eddie- not sure I understand this correctly but it looks like you have a Peter Butler born Ireland whose death certificate gives father's name as Peter a Land Steward? If that's the case, it is more than likely that his birth details do not show up somewhere like LDS site. I wouldn't assume that the death certificate information is incorrect just just because you haven't found more information.

That's right Peter Butler (Drayman) born C. Kildare, father Peter Butler (Land Steward).
Peter junior died in NSW Australia and info was given by his son Peter.
He isn't in the IGI but some of his children are, from the civil registration but born in Dublin.
The two Peter's i checked (1836 & 1840) were on the pay to view site, Kildare Genealogy that patcurragh gave me.
Not sure if all christenings for Kildare are on the site so probably a premature assumption if not all listed.
Death cert says Roman Catholic if that makes any difference.
Hope this isn't too confusing

In Ireland religion of ancestors is important to find church records (if they still exist). To find church records you need to know parish (civil parish and/or religious parish if not actual townland not just county).
If children are born in Dublin area Peter could have been born in Co.Kildare and then moved to Dublin before going to Australia.

According to the death cert he married in Dublin to Anne Hand but there's another person i can't find.
A brick wall that won't even crack yet let alone start to crumble but will keep trying and one day they will turn up.

IGI lists 4 children for Peter Butler and Anne Hand (all Co. Dublin as you mentioned). Births cover 1867-1878 (IGI has some Irish births 1864-c1880). Do you know if wife Anne and children also went to Australia with Peter (or joined him later)? If so, Anne's death certificate might throw some light on her family.
What about other branches of the family- any information there?

The family i new (now deceased) or still living and distant cousins met while doing the family history know no more than i do.
They had 10 children all born in Ireland.
The mother Anne (Hand) Butler was not on the ship with Peter and doesn't appear on any outher ships records so assume died betwen 1878 (last child) and 1886 when Peter left.
Two children also not on any ship were Anne born 1867 and Catherine born 1878.
Found a death of a Anne Butler 28 Jun 1875 St James on Dublin Heritage but not sure if ours as Butler is a popular name.
