Duke of Wellington inn Long street Thirsk

Hello
can anyone please help me find out what became of
the Duke of Wellington inn found in the 1861 census in Long street in Thirsk ? Innkeeper a Sarah Appleton.

Hi

All the census and directories seem to suggest the Duke of Wellington changed use to a blacksmiths from around the mid 1890's. Unfortunately I cannot see a street number on any of the indexes which makes guessing where the premises was very difficult. A lot of the area has been redeveloped.

I don't live far away, so next time I go to the library I will see what information I can dig up.

Hi

Managed to have a quick look today in the Thirsk library, and it seems that its address was 10 Long Street, described as "a substantial double fronted establishment with elaborate signage"
It seems that it was also known as the Waggon and Horses at sometime or other, unfortunately the number ten building as been replaced by a block of new apartments, I was hoping to find a picture but no luck, so no photograph sorry.

Looking through various census and commercial directories it seems it was around as a pub from about 1824 through to the 1890's, it certainly isn't mentioned in the 1901 census or 1910 trades directory.

I will keep my eyes open for an old photo.
