Maguire/Campbell - FINTONA
« on: Monday 08 November 04 14:11 UTC (UK) »

Looking for any possible early connections to an Edward Maguire and Anna Campbell, possibly married in or near Fintona pre 1830. Think their first born son, James was born in Fintona. Other children were Edward, Charles, Stewart and Catherine. I am descended from their daughter Catherine. The sons all emigrated to the US in the mid 1800's but Catherine remained in Tyrone - Omagh area. Any information or possible connection to any Fintona Maguire's greatly appreciated. THANKS

Hello KHartley,

A search in the Parish records of Donacavey in which places near Fintona are situated may reveal further information. The search would be somewhat easier if the townland in which the family of Edward and Anne Maguire could be found. Griffith's Valuation of Ireland 1848-64 may help with finding the townland.

All the Best Christopher

All I really know is that Edward & Ann had 5 children and I have some indication that their 2nd son, Charles was born in Fintona on November 14, 1835. I have no knowledge of where the others were born - James E. born March 8, 1831; Edward born February 14, 1837; Stewart born October 18, 1845; and Catherine born about 1846. Edward Maguire supposedly died March 20 1889 in Killycurragh. We have been told that Edward, Ann & their daughter Catherine (died 1902 in Killycurragh) may have been buried at the Drumnakilly C of I but apparently records there have gone missing and there is no headstone for any of them so have no proof of that. The 4 sons all emigrated to the USA and lived in Indiana & Ohio. I know Catherine & her youngest son James are on the 1901 Census as I have that record (somewhere). Catherine Maguire (who never married) was my Great Great Grandmother.
