Hewiett in Aylesbury
« on: Monday 08 November 04 18:54 UTC (UK) »

Hi

We're looking for Martha Hewiett born about 1800 who is shown in the 1851 census as a widow and a pauper in Aylesbury; a grandson was staying with her we think.  We saw this entry very briefly just as Aylesbury library was closing! She had a son Charles who was christened in 1822 but who had probably left her by 1851.

Any lookup for this would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help Frances.

My wife and I had spent a long day in Aylesbury FH section a year or so ago, and they valiantly thrust this before us in the same breath as "we're closing now!"  That said they were wonderfully helpful, and we'd had a very fulfilling day.  This will help us back to the 1700's.

Thanks again!

Take care -

Brian

Looking into this further we are not sure this is the right person after all.

We know there was a Grant Hewiett married to a Martha, but our Martha was mother on the 1845 marriage certificate of Charles Hewiett, born c 1820.  And his father was Edward Hewiett.  This would make the one you found 35 when Carles was born.  Not impossible, but...

Is there another Martha Hewiett in the 1851 census in Aylsebury?
