« on: Monday 08 November 04 19:15 GMT (UK) »

I wonderd if anyone is researching the Renwick surname from Alnwick. My Renwick is Mabel she was my Grt Grt Grandmother, born around 1845,she married Henry Schofield at Lamberton Toll Berwickshire on 27th July 1859,he was her 1st marriage,Henry died and she remarried Thomas Crumlish in Berwick, not sure when.Thomas and Mabel went on to have 4 daughters of which Mary was my Grt Grandmother born in 1871 in Berwick. If anyone is researching either the Renwicks from Alnwick or the Crumlishes from Berwick i would love to hear from you.Anne.

Hi Anne,
I'm also researching Renwicks, although I haven't come across any in Alnwick yet.
My earliest Renwick is Joseph b. abt. 1786 Hamsterley, Durham, he married Margaret Blenkinsopp in 1806, others seemed to be around Bishop Auckland/Merrington/Gurney Villa area, have you found any there?
If you get a bit further back we may find a link!
Best wishes, Barbara

Hi Barbara, you are a diamond,i am nearly sure this is my Renwicks. My mother said that when she was a little girl she can remember her Grandmother saying that her mother must have been named after HER MOTHER {that would be my Grt Grt Grandmother}and that is that they were both named Mabel.I was kind of hopeing that Mabels husband was also from Alnwick but now it seems not.Did the census give any idea where he was from.I hope its not Ierland its a nightmare trying to do research in Ierland.Anyway Barbara thankyou so much for this info and good luck in your own search.Anne. Thomas Renwick was born in Carlisle. Mable, his wife was born in Holystone.

Robert, 15 yrs on C1851 was Alnwick-born
Mable, 8 yr old on C1851 and George 5 yrs, also born Alnwick.

Remember ages on C1841 were rounded to units of 5 yrs

hello I wonder if you have any information on a mary renwick.  I believe that she was born abt 1805 (where???).  She married in May 1837 to John Ainsley in Alnwick but sadly died in 1840 whilst living in Easington County Durham

Thanks

Mark
