Graffham, Sussex
« on: Monday 08 November 04 20:32 GMT (UK) »

My grandmothers family were Bridgers of Graffham, Sussex.  I was told she was born in The Woodmans Public House in the Village.  It is now a private house.  I wondered if anyone knows the history of it.  Thank you.  Norma

Hi Mary Jane - do you know if the house is still called The Woodmans or something similar ?  How about a short letter to the present occupier on the lines of - My Grandmother was born in your house etc..

Hi there

Excellent advice there suey - thanks for that, as you say - "nothing ventured, nothing gained"

Although no dates are mentioned on the initial query, other avenues of research are:-

Electoral Register to see who lives there now
Street Directories available in most libraries to see if it is listed - a public house should be, together with its landlord
The West Sussex Record Office at Chichester to see if any history of the pub has been written or is in their Archives
