Who do you think you are (III): #6 Nigella Lawson
« on: Wednesday 11 October 06 12:58 BST (UK) »

It's the turn of the domestic godess tonight.

It looks like they are going to touch on the subject of criminal ancestors, which I cannot recall in any previous programme,  I guess we would like to think all our ancestors were honest and law abiding, so tonight's programme should be quite interesting.

I wonder if we will get her recipe for chocolate cake as well?

It's true there does seem to be a "theme" to each episode this series.

I do know that her father was at least partly of Latvian Jewish origin. But I know nothing about her mother - the blonde Therese Lawson seen by her dad's side on the steps of No11 in the 80s was his 2nd wife. Chris

Hi Kerry

Apparently she unearths a family of travelling tobacco sellers, lower class Ashkenazi Jews and an apprentice shoemaker from Amsterdam who was on the run for stealing a lottery ticket.  Smiley

Daughter of Nigel Lawson - politician of some sort.
Used to be a journo of sorts.
Someone reinvented her as a cook of some sort on the telly. Maybe she did a cooking course or something.
You'll probably find info on google.

Blimey Celia have you not heard of the Domestic Godess?

Let us not forget that she is the partner of Charles Saatchi, Britain's foremost modern art collector.

Funnily enough my partner decided he wants to watch tonight's episode.

I expect there are a couple of reasons he wants to watch it Kerry  Wink

One must be to see if she gives the recipe to her chocolate cake.

And the other is surely to hear the interesting story of her family history.

What else could it be?

I'm babysitting tonight so will tape it too incase I miss any vital bits.

Finally she is here  Grin    and I dont get to watch it. Sad

I am so disappointed that we dont get this program in Canada. I have been watching Nigella on the food network for several years now.  Grin

I recently went hunting for info on Nigella (looking for her bio) after I heard her call her son Bruno - but didn't catch the daughters name. I had to google to find out her name is Cosima.

Now I am wondering if John Diamond was Italian??   Grin

Have never heard of Nigel Lawson, but I read he was the Exchequer of the Treasury? Does that mean he was the Minister (Secretary in USA)  of Finance?

BD

PS I am also looking forward to Jeremy Irons next week as well. Smiley
