1835-1839 Marriage Please
« on: Saturday 14 October 06 19:08 UTC (UK) »

Cheesy  I have the birth cert. of Mary Ann Maltby in 1839 her father was Samuel Maltby Policeman in 1841 census age 50's mother Mary Turton born Nottingham 10 years younger. Samuel was a widower with existing family to first wife Ann King. I have looked on FreeBMD and found no marriage so assume its took place before sept Q 1837. Please, please has anyone got time and  the resourses to do a look up for the marriage please.

Kind regards Perro

Hi Perro  Smiley

Have you considered that Mary might also have been married before and missed her first married name off her daughter's birth cert.?

I ask because there is a marriage at Nottingham St Mary 18/02/1837 between Samuel Maltby and Mary Joynes.

Previously there is a marriage at Nottingham St Mary 10/11/1816 between William Joynes and Mary Turton ...and a burial of William Joynes there 21/04/1833 age 37.

I realise this marriage may seem a little early but Mary was 53 in 1851 and 62 in 1861 - so wouldn've een 17/18 on first marriage. Just a theory!

Thanks Heather,

I do feel you are right about Mary and will look at the birth cert again, I thank you for your help. Interesting Mary may have had other children called Joynes I must investigate further another name to add to my list........

Many thanks
