Hi Frank

Although submitted entries, Maclennan's entries on IGI look good. Are you concerned about the Elizabeth/Betty/Betsy variants? Don't be, have a look at this link for first name variants: www.whatsinaname.net/php/search.php?action=search2&search_name=elizabeth

Regards.

This looks like the family in the 1841 Census:

Alexander, 30
Elizabeth, 20
David, 1 month

All the family are showing as born in Caithness. Alexander is down as a farmer. The address is Greenhill, Latheron.

Remember ages in the 1841 Census are supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 for everyone over 15, children under 15 are supposed to be shown at their true age.

Regards.

There is no actual extract of the marriage showing on IGI, just the submitted entry, so hard to know. Even if she had used Elizabeth for one registration, she would well have used/put down a different variant for another entry. It can make it difficult to do searches when you have a number of variants for both first and surnames.....a sign of the times!
