Hello Jan/Peter

I'm still waiting for a reply to Evan Evans Query from the registrar but have found out that Levi was not baptised in any of churches round llanfair,Meifod nor in any non-conformists registers so that mystery will remain so I'm afraid,

have heard from the registrar about a possible marriage between John EVANS and Jane LEWIS but that was negative registar says nothing corresponded. so I will let you know more when I hear

I found an interesting peice on the query of Rachel Jones birth certificate where it states mother's maiden name as Davies.

Janes father Oliver Lewis was married to a Jane Davies and if at the registration of Rachel they asked for mothers maiden name it's quite possible they gave Janes mothers maiden name of Davies instead of Janes maiden name of Lewis,

What do you think. Huh Huh 

Or am I clutching at straws, it seems quite plausible because everything else ties in.

Still no news on Evan as yet. Undecided

OR Jane was the illegitimate daughter of Jane Davies, and maybe Oliver was her step-father and she chose to use his surname throughout her life, and he was noted as her father on her marriage certificate.

Is it worth wasting another £7 on a birth certificate of one of Rachel's siblings. This may of course prove nothing but if a mistake had been made you never know. Ideally if you have the ear of the Registrar perhaps they might have a free look.
I must confess that on one occasion when for security purposes I was asked for the maiden name of my wifes's mother I recall providing my wife's maiden name.
I look forward to the next instalment.

In the parish register Jane Lewis was born on 18 march 1836 bap: 20 march 1836 at The Tabernacle, Llanfyllin, father Oliver Lewis mother Jane Davies. With this information that's why I thought they may have given the wrong maiden name Roll Eyes

I have just realised, however, that on the Look Up request boards you can't attach any images (not allowed because of copyright rules).  I'd like Peter to see it aswell..........Peter, can I email it to you?
