I'm looking for John Symes b. 1859 Strand District, London (Middlesex county then ). In 1881 he is living with his widower father John (Sr.) in Battersea. He may have gotten married later that year to probably Ellen Wood. I can't find him in 1901 and I can't find a death for him in the ECRI. Thanks, Bob

Jane, Thanks once again. That clears things up some. In 1881 John Jr is listed as Porter (Railway) so Carman makes sense. Looks like John Sr. had a whole new family with Ellen! His first wife Elizabeth d. 1879. I believe John Sr died 1897. I believe he was a brother of my great great grandmother Elizabeth Symes Hodder. She moved to the States in early 1860's. Nothing was known of her family by cousins here. Now to find cousins there! Bob
