I would appreciate anyone's thoughts about this please:
This morning I have been happily using my computer to use Rootschat, Ancestry, Free BMD and my email programme. About 15 minutes ago it switched itself into Restart mode.........honestly ........I didn't touch anything.
Once it had restarted I kept getting several "New Hardware" found, in all about 20 different messages for the same item - something to do with Texas Instruments. I went into my Device Manager and there was a huge list under the section 'IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers' all with the yellow exclamation mark
I restarted the PC, checked the Device Manager and they had all gone and everything was OK.......until 5 minutes ago, and it did exactly the same thing again but this time no New Hardware was found
HELP!!

What do you have plugged in externally besides a printer (perhaps), Screen, Keyboard and Mouse ?
Any USB plugs been jarred loose in their sockets ?

Hmmmm ... dunno then, something changed - is the PC running hot at all ?
Keep an eye on it, might be early warning of a problem .... certainly get all your data backups up to date !

I'm not familiar with Privacy Mantra, so dont know how it would interface down at the hardware level to cause 'New Device Recognition' !!
The 'noise' during a scan would be your HD seeking & searching across tracks for Folders & Files.
Is there an online Forum for PM Users with hints/tips etc ?
Bottom Line, if removing it has lead to non-return of the symptoms I'd leave it alone !
