I am looking for the death of William Forster possibly spelt Foster between 1841 and 1851 where his wife Sarah is described as a Widow. On the 1841 census William's age is 37 and his occupation is given as Machine maker. Living Butter Lane, Manchester.
You are able to search the death index images for free at http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx it will probably ask you to register but this is free also. If you have already tried searching the FreeBMD database then choose the top box Complete BMD Index ranges & Images 1837-1983 and check the images quarter by quarter.
Hope this helps Mary
