searching for Simons and Kennedy

Hi there, I am monica and I am writing from Rome, Italy.
I have been searching for my Irish ancestors for YEARS!
anyway seems that I am getting closer.
To make a long story shorth my GreatGrandmother Bridget Emily Simmons (simons)Kennedy left Ireland and ended up In Honk Kong
Married my GreatGrandfather Prosper Francis D'agostine from Corsica. My GrandMother Olive Kathleen was born In Honk Hong in 1903 they all  ended up in Italy. My Grand mother  Olive married an Italian etc etc. so we are a raimbow family.
doing some research on this web site (by the way is great!!!) I have found someting about (I hope) my
Greatgrandmother parents  Patrick Simons and Mary Kennedy of Westmeath.Seems that in county Westmeath Simons is not a very common name so If there is anybody that can help me
or if the are some relatives please get in touch.
I will be grateful forever. I ve been several times to Ireland
and is one of the most beatiful countries in the world.

Hi Monica,

As your great grandmother was born post 1864. her birth should have been registered so you need to check the indexes either at the Dublin GRO or on film at your local family history centre (Do you have them in Italy?)

Hi Monica

In the 1871 list of Westmeath Landowners - which you can look at on http://www.failteromhat.com/lo1876/westmeath.pdf
lists just one Simons.  A Patrick Simons of Pottingham, Moyvore, Westmeath owning one and a half acres of land.
