Using the index of ScotlandsPeople I found a Maggie Ann Miller born 1881, St Mary, Dundee, and a marriage between a Maggie Miller and a Murdoch Sutherland at Olrig, Caithness in 1903.
I also found 4 births of a Murdoch Sutherland - 1879 (2), 1881 and 1883. Assuming it is the correct marriage, you would need to see the certificate for the names of both sets of parents.
£6.00  would allow you to look up 5 events on ScotlandsPeople.
Hope this helps.

I think this is the entry for the marriage of Maggie's parents (it's Jemima not Jamesina - although there is a Jamesina on Maggie's marriage cert. but she is a Sutherland and a Witness!):

1882 MILLER JOHN and MANSON JEMIMA @ OLRIG/CAITHNESS   GROS Ref: 039/00 0007

From her age at marriage in 1903, I think Maggie's birth year is closer to 1883 (would also fit better given her parents' marriage was the year before).

Regards.

This looks a possibility for Maggie's birth entry on SP:

1883   MILLER   MARGARET ANNE @ WICK/CAITHNESS   GROS Ref: 043/00 0167

There's a death in 1950 on SP in Olrig for a Jemima Sutherland Manson with a birth year of 1859 +/- 1 yr (that's a long life!).

With that in mind, this submitted entry for a birth might be hers. Also she looks to have called her first daughter Margaret after her mother if we have the right entry (need to be verified as always!):

JEMIMA MANSON  Birth: 11 AUG 1859  Bowermaddon, Bower, Caithness, Scotland
Parents: Father: JAMES MANSON    Mother: MARGARET JOHNSTONE

Nice to hear from you again.
I accept the first two of your notes but I think I can discard the third on two grounds.
(1) The age does not fit
(2) I rememember visiting Murdoch round about 1950 and at that time he lived in Thurso  and as far as I know was buried in Thurso a few years later sso I do not see the link with Olrig, but, will certainly check it out.
If you like this sort of puzzle perhaps you could help me out on this one.
The were three Donald Warse,s born on stroma in 1790 one of them married helen Robertson (Robeson) but which one?

I've seen the posts on that one. Certainly the 1841 Census details from Bervonian is them, the children match those born later from IGI. I'll have a better look and get back to you!

In respect of the death in 1950 of Jemima....it's our girl!

Her death cert in Castletown (?), Olrig states widow of John Miller, labourer. Her parents James Manson and Margaret Johnstone which we also know from the IGI birth entry.  A brother Alexander reported her death.

If you want to do the belt and braces on it, you could look at the marriage cert in 1882, or Maggie's birth cert in 1883.

My money is on her.....it's the only death entry between 1855-1950!

Regards.

Monica

PS: I've had a look re Donald Wares/Warse. I'll add to your other post on him so Bervonian who's done the hard work can see it and also helps keep it all together!

I've just realised you also said you thought the entry might be wrong because of her age. She down in the 1891 Census in Olrig as age 31 which would fit the Aug. 1859 birth.

Why do you think the age is out?

Also on the issue of Olrig, she married in Olrig and looks to have been there in 1891 so there was connections there in the early days of her marriage. You obviously know the family history from then.
