Trying to find Ann DOBER in 1841 Census. Ann was born in Plymouth, Devon, in 1819 .Parents were Thomas, a mariner and her mother was Lovedy. Ann turned up in Manchester in 1851 Census and married my great grandfather Joseph MAMMATT there in the same year. I think the family may have moved away from Devon quite early - I know Ann's parents were in Greenwich in 1841 but Ann wasn't with them.

Hi, Thanks Aussie33. It's interesting that the info' you found is the bit I was able to find, also. The harder bits seem to elude everyone, not just me! Ann's non-appearance between baptism and marriage is most frustrating. It seems Ann had two brothers, Thomas and Richard, who joined the military in Manchester and came to Aust as convict guards in 1841. A third brother(?), James, was an engineer and coal dealer in Manchester, apparently. I can't find anything to confirm this, though. The 1841 Census could clarify all of this but unfortunately I haven't been able to find any of them there. Regards, Chanel
