when you say you are looking for information on the connel family from campbelltown, does that mean all the census returns?

do you have any information that you could share that maybe help others identify the family

Hi Joe

I have lots of information on Alexander once he left Campbeltown (New Cumnock '41 and '51 censuses give his birthplace as Campbeltown), marriages and children etc.   He has a gravestone in New Cumnock churchyard.   At some point before censuses began, he left Campbeltown.   Unfortunately, he died in Jan.1854 aged 85 - if he'd managed to hang on another year I would hopefully be able to find his parents (not mentioned on gravestone).  He farmed at Pluck Farm, New Cumnock which has disappeared from the maps, but I can find a Pluck Row.   I believe his first wife may have been Agnes Munro but this is only per submitted IGI entry and does not look very reliable, his second wife, Grizel (Grace) Taylor, I have well documented (1821, Ochiltree) plus children from this marriage.  I have a birth date of 12 May 1767 for him which I think a relative passed on to me, but can't now remember the source.   So, what I would really like to know is who his parents were and secondly to prove whether or not he was married to Agnes Munro.    I am descended from his 2nd marriage - he was my gggxgrandfather.
