Does anyone know why I can't find Benson as a place in the 1861 census?  I can find it in 1851, 41 and 71... but it disappears in 1861!!!

I should say also that Ancestry have changed their format again and have replaced place of birth with just the county..its mad

Dont beat yourself up over it we have all done it

If your using Ancestry just type Benson into the box that says "Civil Parish" and place of residence Oxfordshire

although I still can't find my ancestor... Grrrrr....

why are transcriptions so awful in some years?  you would have thought EDNEY wasn't difficult to spell!!!!!!
