Hi Patrish
You haven't said in your query who you are looking for but I have just looked at the message you wrote last week and so am presuming you mean that you need the census information for Amy Nie
Hopefully I have this right so here is the info for both census's
1920 census Living on Main St., Brownville, Piscataquis, Maine
Head of household Amy Nie, rents home, age 35, single, immigration year 1903 and naturalized, born England, both parents born England, occupation Trained nurse, sundry shop, works on own account
1930 census
Living at Brownville, Piscataquis, Maine
Head, Amy M Nie, rents home, rent 15 dollars, age 46, single, born England as were both parents, immigration year 1904 naturalized, occupation nurse
Also in the California death Index, there is a Amy M Nie, which appears to fit with the census's
born 26th January 1884, in England died 30th August 1971 in Los Angeles
This Amy M Nie is also in the Social Security Death Index
Hope this helps
Agnes

Hi Patrish
The problem you would have with the naturalization papers is knowing where her naturalization occurred. She obviously travelled if the Amy M Nie who died in California is the same Amy in the 1920 and 1930 census's in Maine.
I also believe that you mentioned New York in your earlier messages and as no one seems to be able to find her in the passenger lists (and I certainly can't ) then it will be difficult at the moment. Here is an url that you could look at for now with lots of info
http://www.mass-doc.com/naturalization_research.htm
If she could be found in 1910, there would be more chance of making an assumption for her records but I cannot find her for definite even with searching for just "Nie (soundex) born England 1885 +/- 5, immigration year 1905 +/- 5)
Now the only thing I found and it is a far stretch of the imagination (until you look at the occupation ??) is this but it is only for you to consider at the moment as I haven't checked in later census's at the moment to eliminate this as a possibility!
Blackwells Island Nurses Home City Hospital, Manhattan Ward 19, New York, New York.
One of many nurse's is:
An(n) M Nie, Employee, age 28, single, born England, both parents born England, immigration year 1908, occupation Nurse, Hospital
Most of the nurses on the image have been enumerated with just their initials and at first I thought that this was definitely "Ann" but on closer inspection, I am not at all sure about the second "N"
Hope this helps and I will look more
Agnes

Wow Agnes you really are so kind to do all this for me, I would like to think that perhaps I can help you at some stage.
This Amy Nie is a complete mystery, I don't think anything connected with her is going to be straight forward or what is seems. If her passage was arranged which I feel it was through the Catholic Church I wonder is she entered via the "back door" so to speak as they were enormously influential.
I am sending for the birth cert of the only Amy M Nie that I can find on our birth registrations as it is in the right quarter but the year is 1881, its quite common for ladies to reduce thier ages see if it matches the death record in California. Will take a look at the link you gave.
Look forward to hearing from you, once again I am so grateful
Patrish.

Hi Patrish
Really, it was no trouble at all pleased that I could help in a small way.
You are so right about the age thing, I often search with a broad date of birth because invariably it tends to be out by quite a few years
I searched for a "Ann" in later census's and didn't find anything, so I have a feeling that the An(n) on the 1910 is most probably yours. Blackwell Island had a very dark reputation and if you "google" it you will find lots of info. Here is a link to a couple of photo's of the Nurses Training School!
http://www.correctionhistory.org/rooseveltisland/html/chapincards.html
I have searched the passenger lists on both Ances* and Ellis Island but haven't come up with anything but of course it doesn't mean that she didn't arrive in the normal fashion. It could be that she has been mistranscribed very badly or the record is not available.
I wish you good luck in your search and if you need anything else looked up just ask.
Just a thought, you might consider getting a copy of the SSDI card for the Amy M Nie who died in California. It certainly isn't cheap (costs 27 dollars) but it is one of the few records that was filled in by the person themselves and therefore the detail will be more or less accurate.
Best wishes
Agnes
