Robert Abernethie bap 18 Sep 1796 (ref 218/1
Longside)
son of Thomas Abernethy (ie) and Isobel  Christie
his sister was Mary
the only other clue was the parents were from Bogend
any one have any ideas about Bogend where it is
situated etc thanks
any help is appreciated thanks Michele

Not sure if this helps. In the 1841 Census, there was a Bogend place name in Rathven, Banff. Have a look at this link:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~banff1841/Banffshire%20places%20-%201841%20census.html

If you have a look at the previous/next entries or households on the 1841 Census Index on FreeCen, you might get some additional clues from the place names next to it. Just type in Bogend under street name and then click on Banff, and you should get 9 households living in Bogend.

Bogend Farm still seems to exist not far from Rathven in present-day Moray.  Use Streetmap:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk

to locate it on an OS map.

It can also be found on the old maps site on a map dated 1870/71.  It's a bit north-east of a place called Drybridge, if that's any help.
