« on: Wednesday 01 November 06 09:39 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I have a birth certificate for 1884 and the townlands etc., arn't very clear.

I wondered if anyone would have any ideas as to what they are please?

The address looks like Stranahome

The Registrars district starts with an E

The Union of Irvinestown

County of .........(possibly ending in) ......... agh

District of (could be) Edenary or Edenacy

Hopefully someone will know straight away what the names are!

Many thanks

Used to spend lots of time visiting relatives near Irvinestown.
According to IGI: Irvinestown, Derryvullan (I presume the parish), Fermanagh (county).
Ederny is not far from Irvinestown and there is a townland called Stranahone in Fermanagh.
I'm sure someone that knows the area better will be able to give you more information.

There was a Stranahone townland in the Civil Parish of Magheraculmoney, Poor Law Union of Lowtherstown, County Fermanagh. Ederny was also in the same PLU.

This map shows Stranahone, you can zoom out or pan around to get a better idea of the area.

Irvinestown is the present name for Lowtherstown.
I was born there at my g-mothers home , but never lived there.
