grangemouth - locks
« on: Saturday 04 November 06 14:34 GMT (UK) »

Hi, my g grandad was a seamen and staying in grangemouth in 1940. He was suppoed to be travelling back to the Thames - however weeks after the ship sailed his body was found in a lock known locally as 'the splash'. Does anyone know anything about this area - why it was called that - is it still there?

Thanks very much

Hi Alison,

I don't have any personal knowledge on the history of Grangemouth Locks or Docks but I Googled "Grangemouth Docks, 1940" , also "Locks, Grangemouth, 1940" and there are quite a number of sites about the locks and docks in general.

With a bit of luck you might find something . . . .

Good Luck!

Anne
