Are there any searchable transcriptions of marriages in Suffolk, including the period around 1815? Before I start wading through Parish records and discover afterwards someone could have saved me the effort!

If you post some names then I could have a look on Boyds marriage index. There is also the Suffolk Marriage Index 1813-1837 which you can now buy on CD from Genfair.

Oooh, thanks, Sue.

I'm looking for a marriage between a John Brock and Mary, c 1815, possibly in N Suffolk (they lived in Denton, Norfolk).

If no success, that CD goes to the top of my list to Santa!  Grin

The only one showing on Boyds in the right time frame is this one

Jn BROCK
Mary STONE

Newton St. Cyres - Devon

I have to say Boyds is very hit and miss and some counties are covered better than others. Its a matter of luck if the marriage you want is listed.

I'm not very helpful I'm afraid.

I am not absolutely sure but I think Rick ( the moderator)might have the complete index. It was first available in book form, it might be worth mailing Rick to see if you can get a lookup.

Good luck

Not the time frame you were looking for but there is a marriage between John Brock & Mary Ann Freeman in Denton on 15.8.1826.

Thanks for that, Hephzibah. I had noted it some time ago and forgotten it. But I wonder now if, at the birth of their sixth child, they decided it was time to get married? I will follow this up and see where it leads.

How a fresh eye helps!

Hi Meles

The Suffolk Marriage Index 1813 -1837 (SFHS)  is fully searchable online at Familyhistoryonline.

http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/

These indexes are available for sale from The Suffolk Family History Society and Genfair in book/fiche and CD form.

http://www.suffolkfhs.co.uk/public.html

http://www.genfair.com/shop/system/index.html

I have checked but I cannot find a marriage for a John BROCK around 1815.
