Hi Victoria,
I haven't the 1851 census but in 1871 there is a James C COLDBECK, 50 yrs, Brewer (unemployed) and wife Agnes (46) plus 6 children at 79 George St., Whitehaven.
At 40 Queen St., was a James COLDBECK (59) Carpenter, and wife Mary (61).
If these could be "your" COLDBECKs I can give you details.
James Coupland COLDBECK (bach) married Agnes STEEL (spin) at St Bees Parish Church 1st February 1845 but it will probably be New Year before I can look up details of the marriage.

Mary Elizabeth Caldbeck / D / U / 2 / / CUL St Bees
Ann Cooper / Serv / U / 16 / General Servant / CUL Maryport
Note the spelling Caldbeck,

Jacob Coldbeck born 1797
Jacob Coldbeck and Margaret Elliot
married 22nd Sept 1821 Holy Trinity Whitehaven Cumberland
Daughter
Isabel Caldbeck (spelling of surname differ)
Baptised at Holy Trinity Church 14th Nov 1825#
Jacob was a mariner living at College Street Whitehaven.
Isabel went to Liverpool (on 1851 Census)
She became pregnant and had a son William Coldbeck
On 1871 census William then age 15yrs.Therefore he was born approx 1856. Isabel by then had married ? McLellan ?then Joseph Birch 1864 Liverpool.
I am interested in looking for family of Isabel (her parents) or any other Coldbeck/Caldbeck/ Colebeck/Colbeck on 1851 census

Hi Joan have had a good look at families Coldbeck etc you sent me. I worked out link to families in Liverpool.
Son of Jacob and Margaret Elliot
James born 1822 from New Town Whitehaven
1881 living alone at 72 Brunswick Rd Liverpool
Age 59 Occupation watchman
Also James Coldbeck age 27 in 1881 living at 176 London Road Liverpool Ships Carpenter.
He was son of:
James Coldbeck from 2 Robinson Fold ( joiner)
James age 27 was married wife Mary Coldbeck who was born in Liverpool.
I believe these were related as addresses are in close proximity, and in 1871 Isabella lived close by.
I hope to be able to look at Margaret Elliot`s origins.
I wonder if the christian name Esua,Esaw, was another name for James??
