I'm interested in the following surnames that occur in the St. Martins, St. Nicholas', St. Mary's and St. Margaret's parishes in Leicester: Bollard (sometimes spelt 'Ballard') Hart Sands (family could have originated in Congerstone, Leicestershire) Stone
Does anyone know anything about William Bollard (1848-1916) who was a Leicester fishmonger living on Wharf Street and Curzon Street? His son Thomas Bollard I believe ran the Dolphin Inn on Lichfield Street in 1900, but was running the Fountain in 1904.
Does anyone know anything about Joseph Hart who married Mary Hemsley at St. Mary's church on the 8th December 1792? I know he was buried on the 7th July 1801 aged 32. I'm yet to find a record of his baptism, so I don't know who his parents were. Can anyone help?
Has anyone come across more than one persons with the name Ellen Sands living in Leicester in the 1830's and 1840's. My great, great grandmother was an Ellen Sands who married a John Hart at St. Margaret's church on the 23rd February 1845. Her father's name was William Sands an Engineer according to the marriage certificate. The only Ellen Sands I can find on the 1841 Census was living on Thornton Lane. Her mother is a widow. However, Ellen's marriage certificate implies her father was still alive in 1845.
Does anyone know of a marriage of a Thomas Stone around 1800 taking place in Leicester? His wifes christian name was Elizabeth. They had five children between 1801 and 1810. Only, John, my great, great, great grandfather surivived. He died in 1885.
