I wonder if anyone would be so kind as to look me up a marriage that took place in WEM
I would like to know what it says on the entry for this marriage as I cannot get to the Shropshire Records Office for some time and do not even know if this marriage is the one I am looking for............anyway, its for a
William Turner who married a Jane Haycocks in WEM, Shropshire on 27th October 1812.
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Dorey,
What extra are you looking for?
I might be able to get to Wem library next week - where I think they hold the local parish records (only ever been to Whitchurch) - but when I have looked for other marriages there - they don't seem to have much other information - except which parish they are "supposed" to come from!
Cheers
Keith

Witness names are always down - half of mine were witnessed by the verger tho - you can see the same person on every other marriage! - but you never know.......
Father's name not usually down on the old ones - but.....
Just trying not to get your hopes up tooooo high!
Will see what I can find.
Cheers

Hi Dorey,
Well I finally got to Wem Library!!
Everything you have is correct - plus the witnesses were Daniel Edwards and Ann (Collin?) This is from the type written book of Parish Records held at the library (the ? mark is not mine !!) After I found them I also realised that there was an index to the 3 thick books - and the only mention of the exact names were as above - except for some in 1600's As it didn't take long I also got some other useless bits of information: Pigott Directory 1822 William Haycock - Tinsmith (wonder if he is one of yours?) Nothing in 1790 directory
Inhabitants of Wem August 1800
Males - 624 : Females - 793
Inhabitants of the Area: Males - 1492 ; Females 1604
Methodists included in above: Males - 141 : Females 153
Presbyterians included: Males - 20 : Females - 37
See I told you it was useless - but might give you some ideas.
Cheers
Keith
