Sorry patrish

My husband's best friend wife's lost her courageous fight against Cancer at 5.10 a.m. after a year today.

I will be taking a break from helping on the forum as my husband and family will
need to give help when ever we can at this awful time for him as Pat had no other
family on his side.

In ever loving memory of one of the bravest ladies I  ever had the privledge to have known.

Iris Isaac

I hope you will understand.

Hi Flett,

The above link - using the map you found at Mid Suffolk Council, shows where the old schoolhouse is located.  I am pretty sure I know where it is, and it is now a private house.

We have to go over to Fram in the next couple of weeks so I will be looking out for it  Cheesy

Patrish, you can access the map of Barking Tye as above, it does show all the present day names of the house (and Barking is just a very small, but ..long.. straggly village  Grin

Hi Sandy,

Have followed the instructions, on the page before the cenusus image it says ED dist 3 but on Barking Town it is listed as 1a 1b 1 c etc. so where is dist 3, I logically tried 1c but dont think its that as it says it starts at Mr. Collins Hse on the corner of Hart Street, but the first person on the right image is a Charles Peasey?

Help please Patrish.

Well I'm confused  Grin

Hi Patrish,

I have found your 1851 entry.  Unfortunately the description of the district will not help you much  Sad  It says "The whole of the Parich of Barking and Hamlet of Darmsden(?) including Barking Hall, the Rectory, Over Hall, Tye, Airing House, Taston Hall and Village of Barking".

To see this, go to the census image with your Stephen on it.  At the top of the page, just under the Ancestry baaner you will see a line of text that reads

You are here: Search > Census > UK Census Collection > 1851 England Census > Suffolk > Barking > District 3

Click on the word Barking.  You will see a new page with Enumeration District 3 adn 5b (Where are the rest of the Districts??).  If you click on "View description of enumeration District" you will see a page with the text I have transcribed above.

Hope this helps!

MJP has provided the information I was trying to describe.  Sorry it didn't give you what you needed.  I think it probably works better in larger cities, where there are many more streets to distinguish.
