LAWRENCE/EVANS Marriage
« on: Wednesday 15 November 06 18:58 GMT (UK) »

Could someone help me check on this marriage.  I know Thomas Lawrence married twice and have just received the cert for a child of his second marrieage.

His second wife was called Ellen Evans and according to the census either came from Shropshire or Montgomeryshire/Denbighshire.

I can't find a marriage for them.  There is a marriage for an Ellen Evans Ap/May/June quarter in Oswestry in 1886 but it has two womens names and only one mans name. Do you think this could be their marriage but hasn't been transcribed yet? This would make sense as their first child was born in 1887.

How do I find the missing man?  Thank you for any help you can give me. I apologise for not being able to reply to any help until friday evening due to work commitments.
I do appreciate any help to point me in the right direction.

You need to search the full GRO Index of Marriages - its currently free on Ancestry.

Look for Thomas on the same Quarter oif the year, the same District name and of course the same Vol/Page Reference .... if you match it all, then he's the missing name from the FreeBMD transaction.
