No Keith you're quite right...My brain wave turned out to be a damp squib!!!!
I think I'm clutching at straws a bit now, I'll wait until Mary Ann's birth cert arrives and take from there. Its half term next week so I will wait 'till after then.
Hope I didn't send you on a wild goose chase.
Regards Jane
Audrey has checked BVRI for me and can find no Henry Elliot marriage in Shropshire so I think it safe to assume the marriage took place elsewhere, backing up you finds at the library.
I'll probably pester you again once I get my birth cert
Jane

Hi Bill,
Had a look around Whitchcurch Graveyard and found 2 with Dodd. First name is very faint - looks like "CFAR" then "Fr" "Dodd" Could be Clare Frances Dodd?? died May 4th 1875 aged 49.
Next one looks very interesting! George Dodd of Whitchurch died December 27th 1908 aged 57 also Mary Jane Dodd wife of the above died Sept 23rd 1929 aged 75 also John Thomas Purcell son of George & Mary Jane Dodd died March 1st 1880 aged 1 year.
The last one I have copied as written of course - which means young John's inscription was put on after his parents death - not sure what that means - reburied??
Hope these are the ones you wanted - if you need a photo let me know.
Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith
I have just read about the graveyard in Whitchurch and the information might prove to be invaluable. Thank you for taking the time to look. Much appreciated.

Hello from across the pond, Keith!
I'm looking for 2 family names in Shropshire, let me give you what I have for Whitchurch:
The 1881 Audlem, Cheshire census shows
Joseph Dykes (b. ~1852 in Audlem, Cheshire) married to Eliza (b. ~1852 in Whitchurch)
Looking in the Cheshire BMD, I get that Joseph Dykes married Elizabeth Glassey sometime between 1866 and 1870.
On 31 Mar 1900, Prudence married Thomas Ellison, b. 1879 in Ellesmere, and they had 8 children (none in Shropshire). The second child was my grandmother.
Have you come across anything for Glassey, specifically Elizabeth around 1852?
Thanks!
OC

Hi OC,
No problem regarding a look up - now just what am I looking for?
I am a bit confused - but then again that's not difficult! Do you mean Prudence was born in 1879 and you expect her parents marriage before that?
So therefore you want -The marriage of Joseph Dykes to Eliza - before 1879?
Sorry to be so thick.
Cheers
Keith

Hi OC,
Right - now I can see through the Glass!!
Will have a look next week in the Parish Records at Whitchurch Library - have you more than 1 census record of her age? (not that it means that much!!)
Cheers

Hi OC
Just had a look through the baptisms for Whitchurch for the period 1850-6 and no Glassey listed at all.
Sorry
