Hi, I am trying to find information on Thomas FIELD and his wife Ann (nee HARRIS). I have the following information:
Thomas FIELD b. 1797/1798? England m. 8 Jul 1841, Capetown, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa d. 12 Nov 1895, Adelaide, South Australia Emigrated to South Australia 1853 on "Lady Sandys"
Ann FIELD (nee HARRIS) b. 1816?, Ireland? or South Africa (from the IGI, so I am not sure of the source) d. 26 Aug 1900, Richmond, South Australia Emigrated to South Australia 1853 on "Commodore"
I am not sure about where Ann HARRIS was born and I do not know when Thomas FIELD travelled to South Africa, although it must have been prior to 1841 when he married there.
I do have information on one of their sons, also Thomas FIELD (my great-great grandfather).
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Jason McFarlane

Extracts from handwritten entries in scrapbook owned by Thomas field:
"1840 Thomas Field Paid part of passage money to A. Cole Master of the Thomas & Joseph Crisp Barque to the Cape of Good Hope January 14th for himself and Alfred Lawrence. arrived in the Cape about May 12th."
"1841 In the house of Dr Phillip Cape Town Married Thomas Field & Ann Harris July 8th"
The big questions are whether this was Thomas's FIRST arrival in the Cape and whether he had been married before - he was in his 40's. Unfortunately, the scrapbook, although it has very brief references to some people and places in London, contains no information on Thomas's life before 1840. The entries quoted were obviously copied from another source (a diary/journal?) since they and others are scattered through the scrapbook and not in chronological order.
Regards, Didy.
