Hello there,
I am looking for the death of Matthew DWYER in the Great War Index please? His son stated that he had died when he enlist 1915, I have checked 1914 and up to 1901.
If he is my Matthew then his parents should be Patrick Dwyer and Ann Lynch, and he was born abt 1855, probably at Kilmore. I couldn't find his birth reg, but his age is on his father's death certificate, and the Kilmore came from the Marriage index.
Thanks Christine

also for you, of course could very well have it
there is a death

Many thanks Trish and Jenn,
I posted, not realising it was so close to bedtime - which I have to have a bit earlier, because I am actually working a bit harder than normal
I didn't have James death thanks - I only just discovered this branch of the family. I hadn't realised that another brother had emigrated from Tipperary too, so tracking them down.
Jenn, did the Matthew death have a place? They seemed to be in the Rushworth area later on. That Matthew is pretty well the right age. Only the certificate will tell.
Trish, the first Matthew died, though his burial isn't registered so I presume it was before reg started, and they were in the backblocks somewhere! The two of them are listed on the death cert, sorry should have mentioned that.
Many thanks Christine

Hi Christine
As both James & Mary DWYER (DWIRE), Matthew's brother & sister were christened at the Roman Catholic Church at Kilmore, there is a fair chance Matthew was too.
I wonder if the local historical group has indexed the Church records?
regards
Genni

Glad to hear of your good news Jenn
The death certificate would tell me if he is the Matthew that married Janet Stewart. But I think I will go for the marriage first - if he is not my Matthew who married her, then I do not care any further about the Rushworth ones!! But, as pointed out by Trish, the others were baptized Kilmore so a fair chance he belongs - but there were some other Dwyers there too, which may well be my rellies too. So perhaps I will try the death first after all
Trish, thanks for the hint - I went off and checked the Kilmore Historical Society holdings - and they have "Christ Church Kilmore Parish Archives (CD-Rom)" but might not be the RC Church!
thanks again, cheers Christine

Hi All Jenn, you've had a great day! Happy about that for you.
I am beginnning to see that as the interest in Genie studies expands, more and more info is becoming available and, as in Jenn's case, these old and valuable records are being preserved and passed on freely [I mean that in all senses]
If we just keep digging we might all have Jenn's good news. Sue

Mmmm.. yes
Ian is charging now for all his hard work, but the cost is not high given the value contained.
The smaller cemeteries are still free and maybe he will kindly keep them that way.
As time goes by people on RC and other sites will probably buy the individual cd's[ for Hamilton, Mortlake etc.] and then begin to share the info contained like they do with the indexes on cd from different states. I know some already do hold cd indexes for some cemeteries and share the detalis.
Meantime, I do wish Necropolis would get back online. Long time now. Better give them another query. Sue
