I know Adam McKenzie was born 15 .10.1853 at Loth West Helmsdale
I wrote to Edinburgh for his birth certificate bu was unable to get it
Is there anywhere else I can apply for a birth certificate of the Sutherland births

Hi Elizabeth,
Statutory registration of births, marriages and deaths did not commence in Scotland until 1855, so you are dependent on the Old Parish Registers which record the date of baptism (and sometimes the date of birth). The information provided is usually very limited, e.g. "James Smith and his spouse Mary Thomson had a child baptised called James."
The ScotlansPeople website has an index to the OPR marriages and baptisms, and there is word that at some point they intend to provide images for downloading.

I have some of these rellies but not from a census
I understand I cannot get a birth certificate for Adam as they came out later in Scotland than England
I cannot seem to find his death something makes me think it was in New Zealand. I have tried many ways but he seems to have disappeared
