Hi again Alan....
Great...you have found him he is my 3x great grandfather. I got my great nan's wedding cert this morning ..(we had found she was a widow ) ..so we now know her father. He was also Thomas. There was two Louisa Paynes in the same place born a year or two apart so I had to wait for a certificate to make sure.
Many thanks for going back to check for him.

Now all we need to do Tazzie is to find a link between Thomas Payne and my Payne's in Hinckley, Leicestershire... I'm still trying to trace mine back, not had too much success with all of them as yet, it will probably be early next year before I can document everything I gleaned from Ancestry the other week and to proceed further, but we do have several Thomas Paynes.
You never know, we could be related.......

Thanks Tazzie, I guess I'm getting used to the fact... It's going to hurt on Sunday because that's when I used to call him every week. So many things I still wanted to ask and to get documented, and now it's too late. I'm going to have a really good go at my tree soon. I do have a paper chart of the Payne side, but haven't managed to prove half of them or to find anything out about location either - it dates back to the late 1700's as far as the earliest generations. If I can get my scanner out I ought to send you a copy in case you find any common links...

Hi Tony....
That would be good you never know I might come across one or two and be able to fill you in .
I suppose it is the little things we miss as you say a phone call the like. My dad is still here but when we lost his brother a few years ago that was hard . I used to pop in on the way back from the shops and have a cuppa even now I sometimes go that way just to walk past the house. When we were clearing the house I went in on the day the removal men were coming, I said to my mum "have you done the drawers" "yes " she said. So what do I do check'em again. One drawer was stuck mum said it was strange as she took clothes out of it earlier. So I tug on the drawer and it finally opens. Inside? My nanna's jewelry box that my uncle always said would be mine. Four other people had all been to that drawer but I found the box.
Best wishes
Tazzie

Isn't it strange how that happens - it's as if you were meant to have that jewelery. I suppose we will never find out if these things are the result of someone trying to tell us something or just mere chance, but it's nice to think the old folks are still looking after us and watching over us.
