Hi all,
Could I please have a lookup for the death of Sybella DAWSON, nee Draper. She was born in London in 1829, the daughter of John Draper and Sybella Upton. She emigrated to Australia in 1849 as ISABELLA Draper, and is buried in the Ballarat cemetery as ISABELLA Dawson (married James Dawson in 1855 in Melbourne). I have her death as 1898 (taken from the burial register at the cemetery) but I can't find her in the BDM's anywhere!!

Hi Jane,
Yep, I have the children. John George was my gg grandfather.
James and Joseph were twins. James drowned in a dam when he was 6.
Sybella (the one I'm looking for) is buried in Ballarat with Esther - that's how I found Sybella's grave.

Same here can't find a death in victoria on the indexs for a sybella ( Isabella) dawson around that time or any where else thru to 1985

Have you checked the newspaper for obit? She may have died elsewhere and was buried at Ballarat.
The only female Dawsons whose deaths were registered in Ballt in 1898 are Mary aged 74 & Adelaide Jane aged 67.

Did James pre decease Sybella?
Perhaps she re married but requested be buried as Dawson with her dau.

hello there
thought of that angle but still couldnt tie a death in of the age and with those aprents
the only one I could find was aged 70 in 1898
for a Esther Isabella Rouse parents names unknown

James, her husband, died in 1880 so it is feasible that she remarried. He died in Melbourne but was buried in Ballarat New Cemetery (Sybella is buried in Ballarat Old Cemetery, even though she died much later - I guess because she was buried with her daughter who died in 1864).
Anyone want to have a look for me to see if she remarried?
